October Friday Morning Fun Runs

The Essex-Hawthorne X-Country season was a great success and many of us are missing our morning runs!

We would like to invite all interested students, teachers and parents to join us on Friday mornings at 8:10 am on the track.  We will run every Friday morning for the remainder of October.

We hope to see you there!

Team Updates!

Hawthorne sports teams are finishing the year with great success!  Our Grade 6 boys Volleyball is playing superb and head into the finals  at Winona with a perfect record (they haven’t lost any sets so far!).  Hawthorne Grade 6 girls played in the semi-finals for  basketball tonight.
New teams due to start next week:
Grade 4 and 5 boys basketball
Grade 6 boys basketball
Grade 4 and 5 girls volleyball
Grade 6 girls volleyball
Any coaching help would be greatly appreciated, practices are at lunch  and/or after school. Even if someone just volunteers to do the paperwork that would take a great load off. Please contact Ian at:  Ian.Barnes@tdsb.on.ca

Fall Waste Audit — Morning of Nov 26 — Parent Volunteers Needed

How much of Hawthorne and Essex’s garbage could have been tossed in the recycling bin instead? Let’s find out! The two school will be having their first of two waste audits on Tuesday, November 26. The Eco club will be sorting through the garbage from both schools to see what could have been recycled instead of being put in the garbage and classes will have the opportunity to visit. It should be an exciting day for everyone!

Parent volunteers will be needed from 9:00 – 11:45 a.m. in the morning to help set up, work with the students to sort the garbage into the appropriate recycling bins and clean up afterwards. If you’re interested in volunteering for the morning or part of the morning, please e-mail the chairs@hawthorne2bilingual.com.

A Message from Coach Ana Neves on this year’s Cross Country Season

A GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all Hawthorne runners for an awesome season this year.  Please also note that we had 5 students qualify for the South Conference Finals at Ashbridges Bay on October 21 and one amazing runner qualify for the City Championships at Centennial Park on October 24. Ana would like to thank all the runners for their dedication, hard work and commitment to training.  They represented Hawthorne very well at all times and demonstrated great sportmanship.
Keep on running!!
