We will be having our Remembrance Day Assembly on Monday, November 11th. Each child will be given a poppy to wear. We would appreciate it if your child could bring a small donation. The money collected will be sent to the Royal Canadian Legion.
Thank you so much in advance.

There will be a Halloween Parade on October 31st at 1:00 pm. We’ll be parading our costumes around the field (weather permitting). Parents and families are more than welcome to come and watch or join in!
Be reminded that there is no school on Friday October 11 as it is a Professional Activity Day. Pizza lunch will be on Thursday.
Please come out on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:15 pm to meet your children’s teachers, hear from School Council and find out more about school programs.
Introductions and Welcome in East Gym at 6:15 pm with visits to classrooms from 6:30 – 7:15.
There will be a table in the lobby with more info, forms and sign-ups for QSP, Enrichment, parent volunteering and picking up your ID Tags. Heck, we might even have coffee order forms!
Please pick up a green or yellow tag from Joan’s office. These tags are to be worn in the school when we pick up or drop off our children. They are for identification/safety purposes, so that parents/teachers/admin can identify adults that are meant to be in the school. Also, if you have any extra tags from previous years, please return them to Joan. Thanks very much!
Student Packages (all of the forms that came home on the first day of school!) are due … please make sure they are given to your child’s teacher or are dropped off directly in Joan’s office.
International Languages classes for students will be held at Essex PS on Wednesdays starting with the registration on September 18, 2013. Cantonese, Spanish and Portuguese will be offered. The first day of classes will be September 25, 2013. Please pick up a flyer from the Hawthorne Office or contact Li Gao at 416-395-3251 for further information.
We have many pickups after school from St. Alban’s, The Nook and Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club. Please remind your child that they should come to the designated pickup areas as quickly as possible. Also when you know that your child is not going to attend let the club know prior to pick up, so that time is not spent waiting or looking for them. Thank you.
Joan wants to remind parents and kids to check the lost and found for dearly missed and hardly noticed items that could be repatriated to your home. Check the lost and found, it might surprise you!
